Jung Dong Ha or 정 동하, is a South Korean pop-singer who celebrates 13 yrs of his career in 2018. I have known about him for the past 4 years. I am still a very devoted fan but I do feel a little different now. My previous blog "jungdongha.blogger.com" originated out of sheer excitement by a new discovery of a wonderful singer in a far-away country. This time it's more like solid cheering for him, by someone who knows him well. So: "Go, go go, Jung Dong Ha! Keep going!"

Rain, rain go away...
It's been raining non stop here for 8 days, ugh!
So here is Dongha's old song "Rain". It's from 2009, and I like it a lot. It's probably sad, nevertheless it sounds comforting to me. The lovely video, was posted on YouTube in 2013, but I am quite certain the collection of pictures used is from 2009. The audio is from original recording.

Meaningful words
Dongha is in Japan, doing a one day double "showcase" concert in Tokyo.
Coincidentally, today I just finished watching a k-drama "Chicago Typewriter", which depicts Koreans struggle against Japanese occupation in 1930-ties. Feels a little weird, but it's just me.
While being in Japan, or maybe just a day before his trip, Dongha posted his message to the fans in Korea, on Facebook of his agency, MUSIC ONE. In his message he reassures his fans about his undying love, and gratitude. It was translated into English by someone, and some of his words captivated my attention. I edited the text a little, by removing less relevant sentences, and by smoothing some awkward English. I want to keep it here, with meaningful words highlighted in red.

TBT - If You Are Like Me, concert 2016
Could I love it more ? I think 2016 was a fabulous year for Jung Dong Ha. It was just a very exciting year. It was also the best for me, as a fan. I really like to go back to various performances of 2016, by my most favorite singer, Jung Dong Ha.

When December goes...
❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆

❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
Eh, I feel so silly. However, as he kept doing it month after month, I gradually distanced myself, and stopped following his endeavors. Instead, I listened to audios more.
These days, when December goes, I hardly even know what he is doing. Nothing special is happening, except that Dong Ha is moderately busy, promoting his new album CROSSROAD, which was released in September. It's his first full length CD. I haven't listened carefully to the whole set of songs yet. I know that there were a couple of them that I liked. Since October, Dong Ha is giving concerts here and there. In addition to full size concerts every few weeks, he participates in some events with other performers, singing just the lead song "I Want To Go Back", plus some covers. He visit radio studios as well, where he sings live. From online pictures, he appears to be very well rested and happy.Ah, he gave two concerts in the USA, Los Angeles area, in the Pachenga Resort! That was a joint concert with another Korean singer "Ben"(who is a female). That was in October. His appearance in Washington DC Korean festival had been canceled, not of his fault, but because of incompetence of the organizers.
Next week will be his another appearance on TV Show "Immortal Song2", and he even may become "King of Kings" if he wins that episode. That would be a great way of finishing this year.
And when December goes (it's an allusion to "When October Goes", that DH sang beautifully), I see myself being more into JDH's new rivals (in my heart) : one is Roy Kim, the second K.Will.
Roy Kim has a distinct, unique voice, and sings beautiful sorrowful ballads he himself writes. He is a little weird/eccentric in his FB posts, but maybe it's because he is very young, just in his early 20-ties,
so his is still searching for himself.
K. Will has an average voice, but his singing style is very cool and versatile, and he is lucky to already have his own hits, which are really really good. Most of all, his personality is very adorable, sweet and funny.
In 2019, I may be a better JDH fan, and maybe I will follow him, and support with more enthusiasm. He gradually stopped using the one finger gesture, as I noticed lately. Yay. The whole hand is back.
My lukewarm fan phase may be ending. My melancholy must have been caused the big change in my life - I retired last September - resulting in slight depression, and inability to enjoy any hobbies.
Jung Dong Ha is doing well, although his album did not give birth to any big hit. His fans continue to give him lots of love, so he doesn't need mine now.

Fire and Sweetness
One of the South American fans commented on the image below:
Fuego y dulzura!!!
After his concert titled "Crossroad"(also the title of his new CD), that took place Oct. 27-28 in Seoul, hundreds of pictures appeared online showing him on stage. This is one of them.
And below, another pic from those concerts. To me it represents "dulzura". 💜

Latest
New OST, from new TV drama called "When The Time Stopped", was released yesterday evening.
Classic Jung Dong Ha. Nothing especially spectacular, but still wonderful and full of emotion, as only he can deliver.

Meanwhile, Jung Dong Ha is practicing his dance moves for new concert , which will happen this coming weekend, October 27-28, in Seoul.

TBT - December30, 2013 a capella singing
His voice is so awesome, that it's scary.
This was the last concert with Boohwal. As of January 1st 2014, Jung Dong Ha went solo. A capella singing during the concert happened because there was a power outage in the theater, so I am told. His musician colleagues couldn't played the instruments, and it was unclear how long it would take to be fixed. I'm not sure if it's true, or if Dong Ha decided to give this kind of performance as a goodbye gift for the fans. He was about to start new chapter in his career, and life (marriage). Goodbye to the year 2013, and to the nearly 9 years with band Boohwal. Some fans would abandon him because of the split, but new fans (like myself) would join his journey.
